Description

A c1870 tribal Javanese musket full of ethnographical interest. Possibly a ceremonial piece but could be used as a war club after firing.

Forming a dragons head, the stock is inlaid with profuse silver wire and stud work, brass stud work, mother of pearl, black cabochon eyes and carnivorious (dog?) teeth.

The flared iron barrel is richly inlaid with silver as is the lock plate.

There is damage to one of the dragon's ears, the flintlock isn't functioning and there is no ramrod or lower flint grip.

The overall length is 92cm with a 43cm barrel. The muzzle has a diameter of 2.8cm at the end.
