Description

An excellent example of this classic Boer War Mauser by Ludwig Loewe of Berlin serial number 5542 marked to both the working parts, cleaning rod and woodwork.
The rifle is in extremely good condition for its age, with only minor signs of wear and tear, and has a crisp action and its original leather sling, and deact certificate.
With the rifle are 54 empty cases of 7mm ammunition (50 in clips) to display in a bandolier, and 5 1897 dated deact rounds in a period 'DM' marked stripper clip.
Also included will be the book 'Boer Rifles & carbines of the Anglo-Boer War' by Ron Bester which refers to the batch of rifles supplied by Germany of which this was one. Currently out of print they can fetch over £100. This one is complete and in excellent condition.
