Description

Scarce Lucius Pond revolver in excellent condition. It has a 5" tip-up, barrel and absolutely no play in the hinge which is unusual. It retains it's original screwdriver which is fitted to the underside of the butt. As this was a direct infringement of Rollin White's patent under control of Smith and Wesson, Pond lost a lawsuit brought by them which stopped production. All remaining revolvers (4,486)on hand at Pond's factory were additionally marked "MANUFACTURED FOR SMITH AND WESSON PAT'D APRIL 5 1855". This example is so marked.
