Description

This is a .750 (Regulation) EXPERIMENTAL Percussion Brown Bess Carbine. The lock plate signed 'TOWER' and serial number 525. Circa 1845, this is cut-down from a full length Brown Bess musket. The barrel being only 23in. It has an unsighted barrel and plain lock plate converted from flintlock. It has an experimental hinged nipple-guard safety catch, Brunswick-style hammer, plain walnut full-stock, brass furniture including serpentine side-plate and wood ramrod. Very very rare. Possible used for cavalry or prison personnel. (trade)
