BRITISH VICTORIAN CAVALRY CARBINE MARKED TOWER DATED 1855. British Home Service issue cavalry carbines are extremely hard to find. This model is 40" in overall length has a 23"+ barrel. The original trapped swivel ramrod was often removed due to the awkwardness of reloading with it. This is the case here, and a standard straight pull rod has been utilised. The Percussion Lock shows engraved "Crown" over "V.R.", is dated "1855" over "TOWER" and has London barrel proof marks. In overall very nice condition this weapon shows neither foreign nor Colonial markings and may very well have only seen Home Service. (trade)
